Pairing a phone

  1. Make sure your phone and the PC are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  2. On the PC, click the SwingDeck Remote icon in the system tray and choose Show pairing code.
  3. Point your phone's camera at the code and open the link it shows.

The code works once and expires after ten minutes. You only need it the first time for each phone.

Coming back later

A phone that's already paired doesn't need the code again. Open the same address, or add it to your home screen once: on iPhone use Share, then Add to Home Screen; on Android use the browser menu, then Add to Home screen. The icon then always opens the right address.

Common problems

The phone can't reach the PC
  • Both devices must be on the same network. A guest Wi-Fi network, or a router setting called client or AP isolation, stops devices talking to each other.
  • If Windows asked about network access the first time, allow it on private networks.
  • A VPN on the phone or the PC can get in the way. Try turning it off.
  • If the PC's address changed (it can after a router restart), show the pairing code again and scan it.
The buttons show "GSPro isn't the active window"

Buttons only send keys while GSPro is the window in front. Click GSPro on the PC, then try again.

The buttons don't do anything, but GSPro is in front

If GSPro is running as administrator, Windows won't let a normal program send it keys. Start GSPro normally (not as administrator). The phone shows a red banner when this is the problem.

The keyboard hides the text box on my phone

Tap the box and the page slides up to keep it in view. Use the tick on the phone's keyboard to close it again. Tab, Esc and the arrow keys are under the box.

I want to remove a phone

Click the tray icon, choose Paired devices, and remove it. That phone is disconnected straight away.

I want to start again

Remove all paired devices from the tray menu, then show the pairing code and scan it with each phone.

The port is already in use

Choose Change port in the tray menu and pick another number. Phones need the new address, so show the pairing code and scan it again.

Start with Windows

The app starts with Windows by default. To turn that off, untick Start with Windows in the tray menu, or use Windows Settings, Apps, Startup.

Privacy
